Can i bring a box of cubans cigars back with me from mexico?

i know you cant buy them in the US due to the ban on all things cuba but can i bring some back with me from mexico when i go on vacation there? some have told me i cant while others have said i can bring them back as long as they are for personal use and not resale. Which is true?
