How come my Windows 7 laptop won't connect to an unsecured network?

Today, I was at Denver, Colorado for my connection flight. While I was there, I saw an internet WiFi spot. I went there and attempted to connect to their public WiFi network called DIAFREEWIFI (Denver International Airport Free WiFi) and it wouldn't work. Yes my WiFi was on. It didn't work on my laptop but I tried on my iPod Touch and it worked perfectly. Anyone know what's wrong or how to fix that?
