Do I have what I all need to own a horse?

You need a place to keep it, an experienced person around you, truck, trailer, a steady income, and about $7,000 on hand to really have an adequate home for a horse. You need a good, safe place to keep the horse. If it's not a boarding barn then you will need to find land and build at minimum a run in shed. You should keep an experienced person around to help you learn about your horse and to keep you and the horse out of trouble. Emergencies arise and you will need to have a way to transport your horse to the vet. You need to keep a good amount of money in the bank to pay for emergencies such as colic. If you board your horse you will need to pay a monthly boarding fee, and if you keep your horse at your house you will need to purchase grain/hay/bedding regularly. Farrier fees are also pretty high.
