Itunes deleteing my internet local connection?

ok so i recently updated my itunes to itunes 10 that same night right after i downloaded it from apples website my internet cut off like itunes literally deleted my local internet connection i was on the phone with maintenance for 3 hours thinking it was the line that as working but i restored my computer to birng back my connection that was deleted so i downloaded itunes again to se if it was itunes fault n sure enough my internet cuts off as soon as i get itunes whys is it doing this becuz i need itunes for my ipod. plz help i need all the answers i can get.
